A broadcaster and presenter who began modelling in 1948, Franks became the ‘face’ PYE Television of Cambridge and went on to present for both the BBC and ITV. She also worked for Radio Luxembourg, wrote children’s stories, and was a friend and neighbour of Margaret Thatcher, portrayed by Elizabeth Bennett in the TV Movie Margaret (2009).
