A British actor best known for his role as Inspector Cyril ‘Blakey’ Blake on On The Buses (1969-1973), Lewis also wrote twelve of the later episodes of the show. He reprised the character on numerous occasions but found another enduring role as Clem ‘Smiler’ Hemingway in Last of the Summer Wine (1988-2007).
