A British journalist and broadcaster who wrote for the Croydon Advertiser, South Wales Echo, Sunday Express and New York Tribune, Hardcastle moved into broadcasting with the BBC in the mid-1970s. She presented a number of shows for Radio 4 including The 20th Century Remembered, The World Tonight and Woman’s Hour.
