A British actress, with dual nationality for the US, Sally Ann Howes was best known on screen as Truly Scrumptious in hit musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968). Although more celebrated for her peformances on the stage, both West End and Broadway, Howes’ still notched up an array of film credits, including Dead of Night (1945), Anna Karenina (1948), The History of Mr Polly (1949), Paradise Lagoon (1957) and cult horror Death Ship (1980).
