A British cinema operator and film executive, Hart took over the rundown Rex in London’s Angel Islington in 1970, transforming it into one of the best independent cinemas in the capital, after renaming it the Screen on the Green. Over the following years, Hart expanded her business to seven Screen cinemas, while also launching her own distribution company, Mainline Pictures. The latter acquired the UK rights to such films as Maitresse (1975), Eraserhead (1977), This is Spinal Tap (1984) and Santa Sangre (1989). Hart retired in 2008, having sold the Screen chain to Everyman for £7m.
