A British writer and producer who began his career script editing features, Banks Stewart began writing for television on shows such as Danger Man (1960-1961). He and wrote two highly regarded Doctor Who serials (1975-1976), and his innovative approach to crime shows saw him create Shoestring (1979-1980) and Bergerac (1981-1991).
