A British special visual effects artist and supervisor, who started out working on such Gerry Anderson favourites as Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and Joe 90 in the 1960s, before moving to the BBC to create models for Doctor Who, among other series, in the 1970s. Brazil (1985) won him a BAFTA, while The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988) and Little Shop of Horrors (1986) also earned him nominations. He also won two Emmys, as part of the FX teams for Merlin (1988) and Alice in Wonderland (1999). His long list of credits included Memphis Belle (1990), The English Patient (1996), 28 Days Later... (2002), Love Actually (2003), Ex Machina (2014), the London Olympics opening ceremony (2012) and Babylon (2014).
