A British actor who was best known for his role on Coronation Street (1986-1998), Barraclough played the pompous landlord of the Rovers Return, Alec Gilroy. He also forged a memorable comic partnership with Les Dawson after joining the fourth series of Sez Les (1972-1976) and they created the characters of Lancashire gossips Cissy and Ada.
