A British newsreader known for his ad-libbing expertise, Neville became the BBC’s longest serving regional news presenter on Look North (1964-1996) and was the BBC’s Man in Newcastle on Nationwide (1969-1984). He began his TV career at Tyne Tees before being poached by the BBC, but eventually rejoined to present North East Tonight (1996-2005).
