A producer with a rare knack for appealing to large audiences, Hurll worked on such popular programmes as Seaside Special (1975-79), The Two Ronnies (1980-87) and Top of the Pops (1980-87). He also produced The Late, Late Breakfast Show (1982-86), Blind Date (1985) and devised The British Comedy Awards (1990).
