Michael Ferguson

A British director and producer, who first started in the television industry as an assistant floor manager at the BBC, where he worked on the first story of Doctor Who to feature the Daleks, ‘The Dead Planet’ (1963). He would go on to direct all three of the first Doctors, William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee, in stories over the following decade. He worked on numerous other series, as both director and executive producer, including The Sandbaggers (1978-1980), The Bill (1985-2002) and EastEnders (1989-1991), notably for the latter, introducing the Mitchell family to Albert Square. He was nominated for a BAFTA, shared with Geraint Morris, for Casualty in 1994.
