Michael Barratt

A British television presenter, who became the face of Nationwide, the long-running magazine programme that followed the BBC’s early evening news. Barratt was the main presenter from the start in 1969 through to 1977, when he left to set up his own company, offering media training and public speaking advice. Before Nationwide, Barratt worked as a reporter on the regional news programme Midlands Today and then national investigative series Panorama (1963-1965), having previously switched from newspaper to television journalism. After Nationwide, he would present Songs of Praise (1977-1982) and Reporting London (1983-1988).
