Once cast by Robert Aldrich as Mike Hammer’s sultry secretary Velda in Kiss Me Deadly (1955), Cooper’s cult status was assured. Soon after the war she toured Europe working in theatre and on British television, with later films including Zero Hour! (1957) and What Ever Happened To Baby Jane? (1962).
