A British writer and producer who was a pioneer of films set in British-Asian communities, Jamal formed the all-Asian Retake Film and Video Collective and production company Epicflo. He produced The Peacock Screen (1991), Turning World (1996) and Quarrels (1996) and was a co-writer of the first and only British Asian soap Family Pride (1991-1992).
