An American actor, who starred in five Sam Peckinpah films, namely Ride the High Country (1962), Major Dundee (1965), The Wild Bunch (1969), The Ballad of Cable Hogue (1970) and Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid (1973). Before this, Jones (born Justus McQueen) had featured in an array of film and television roles, including The Young Lions (1958), The Naked and the Dead (1958) and Hell is for Heroes (1962), with guest spots on Wagon Train (1959-1964), Laramie (1959-1963) and The Virginian (1962-1971). He later wrote, directed and produced post-apocalyptic horror A Boy and his Dog (1975).
