Leslie Bricusse OBE

A British composer and songwriter, whose work has featured in more than 40 films and plays. He also wrote several movies, including Charley Moon (1956), Doctor Doolittle (1967) and Scrooge (1970). But it was his music and songs that he became known for, earning him seven Emmy and nine Oscar nominations. He would win two Oscars, one for Best Song for Doctor Doolittle’s ‘Talk to the Animals’ and the other shared with Henry Mancini for the score to Victor Victoria (1982). Bricusse also wrote the lyrics to two of James Bond’s most popular songs, ‘Goldfinger’ (1964), sung by Shirley Bassey, and ‘You Only Live Twice; (1967), performed by Nancy Sinatra.
