An American actress who found fame playing the aristocratic Jessica Tate on the soap-opera parody Soap (1977-1981), Helmond then demonstrated her versatility starring as Mona Robinson in nearly 200 episodes of Who’s The Boss? (1984-1992). On the big screen her notable credits included Brazil (1985) and Overboard (1987).
