A comedian whose surreal invention inspired the likes of Robin Williams, Winters made his name on such programmes as The Tonight Show with hosts Jack Paar and Johnny Carson. He appeared in films such as It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963) and series including Mork & Mindy (1982).
