A Scottish comedian and actor who was known as one of his country’s most versatile performers, Beattie’s screen career began with the BBC’s Johnny Beattie’s Saturday Night Show (1964-1970). He hosted STV’s game show Now You See It (1981-1984), and his acting credits included Taggart (1990) and River City (2002-2018).
