An American producer, director and writer who best known for his debut feature Boyz n the Hood (1991), Singleton’s powerful depiction of three friends growing up in South Central Los Angeles earned him Oscar nominations for writing and directing. His other notable credits included Shaft (2000), Baby Boy (2001) and 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003).
