An Australian documentary filmmaker, whose television Special Reports were recognised with multiple BAFTA nominations. John Pilger was presented with BAFTA’s Richard Dimbleby Award in 1991 and was a named nominee twice, for Palestine is Still the Issue in 2003 and Breaking the Silence: Truth and Lies in the War on Terror (2003). After moving to the UK, Pilger worked as a print journalist and sub-editor, before moving on to make films, predominantly for the ITV network, including provocative documentaries about Cambodia, East Timor and his homeland’s Aboriginal people.
