A British special effects specialist, Markwell joined the industry in 1978 as a special effects technician, later becoming supervisor, and working until 2000. Titles he worked on include Octopussy (1983), Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) and Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988).
