Jean-Luc Godard

A French filmmaker, who, while best known as a director, also wrote, produced, edited and acted across an illustrious career spanning 70 years. Godard is widely regarded as one of the greats of cinema, an innovator of the form and a driving force behind the groundbreaking French New Wave movement. Just a few of his many masterpieces: À bout de souffle (1960), Une femme est une femme (1961), Vivre sa vie (1962), Le petit soldat, Le mépris (both 1963), Bande à part (1964), Alphaville, Pierrot le fou (both 1965), Masculin féminin (1966), La chinoise, Week-end (all 1967), Tout va bien (1972), Nouvelle vague (1990) and the documentary film series Histoire(s) du cinéma (1989-1999).
