Jack Cardiff Special Award 2001BAFTA Archive One of Britain’s foremost cameramen, Cardiff was the first trained to shoot in Technicolor, experience put to memorable use on films including A Matter of Life And Death (1946), Black Narcissus (1947), The Red Shoes (1948) and The African Queen (1951). His work as director includes Sons & Lovers (1960).
