A Swiss artist with a vivid, disturbing style, Giger was best known for his designs that inspired the xenomorph in Ridley Scott’s Alien (1979), for which he won a Visual Effects Oscar. His designs were used in all five Alien sequels and his artwork featured in Prometheus (2012).
