Günter Grass

16 October 1927 to 13 April 2015

A German novelist whose work was adapted for the stage and screen, Grass wrote extensively on his nation’s post-war politics. His best known work, The Tin Drum, was published in 1959 and was made into an Oscar-winning film twenty years later by director Volker Schlondorff.
