An American actor, who is perhaps best known for The Right Stuff (1983), Tremors (1990) and Short Cuts (1993). Recognised as a versatile character actor, Ward landed some high-profile roles through the 1980s and 2000s, from Escape from Alcatraz (1979) through to Chain Reaction (1996). The roles that followed from the 2000s tended to be more cameos, supporting appearances or guest spots, including Joe Dirt (2001), Sweet Home Alabama (2002), ER (2006-2007) and True Detective (2015).
