Francesco Rosi

15 November 1922 to 10 January 2015

An Italian director who learned under Luchino Visconti, Rosi made his directorial feature debut with The Challenge (1958) and became known for his socio-political filmmaking. He won a Best Foreign Film BAFTA for Christ Stopped at Eboli (1979) and also received a nomination in the same category for Carmen (1984).
