A popular star of Bollywood action tales, Khan came into his own directing movies which fused western and eastern influences. He enjoyed success with his debut Apradh (1972), and continued to work as actor for hire while also directing hits including Dharmatma (1975), Qurbani (1980), Jaanbaaz (1986) and Dayavan (1988).
