As a part of the French New Wave, Rohmer’s early films explored tangled male-female relations. These include Ma nuit chez Maud (1969), Le genou de Claire (1970) and L'amour l'après-midi (1972) along with later, atypical work such as Conte d’hiver (1992), L'anglaise et le duc (2001) and Triple Agent (2004).
