A British stand-up comedian and actor, who came to national prominence on comedy show The Comedians (1971-1993), although he had made his screen debut a few years earlier in a small role in Kes (1969). He went on to appear on both UK comedies and dramas, including Another Sunday and Sweet F.A. (1972), The House That Jack Built (1977), The Enigma Files (1980), The Glamour Girls (1980-1982), Brookside (1994) and in three different roles on Coronation Street (1997-2022). He worked with Ken Loach again on the two-part The Price of Coal (1977).
