An American actress who amassed over 100 credits during her career, Malone made an early impression in The Big Sleep (1946) and a decade later won an Oscar for her supporting role in Written on the Wind (1956). She was perhaps best known to audiences for her role as Constance MacKenzie on the soap opera Peyton Place (1964-1968).
