A British television presenter, who specialised in covering sport predominantly for ITV. Dickie Davies was known as the regular presenter of ITV’s Saturday afternoon sports magazine-style programme, World of Sport (1968-1985), but he also helmed other sports programming for the channel, including four Olympics (1968, 1972, 1980 and 1988). He started as an announcer and then newsreader at Southern Television, before landing the World of Sport job. Other programmes he fronted included Sportsworld (1972-1977), All in the Games (1976-1977), Sportmasters (1989-1990), Bobby Charlton’s Football Scrapbook (1995-1999) and Dickie Davies’s Sporting Heroes (1998). He also fronted sports shows for Eurosport and Classic FM radio.
