Derek Granger

A British writer and producer, who was a double BAFTA winner with the critically acclaimed costume dramas Country Matters (1972) and Brideshead Revisited (1981). The former earned him another BAFTA nomination in 1974, while the latter gave him an Emmy nomination. Granger was a theatre critic for the Financial Times before being approached to work at Granada Television. He became producer of soap Coronation Street (1961-1962) and went on to work on a range of programming, from sitcoms to documentaries to feature-length dramas. These include Bulldog Breed (1962), World in Action (1964), Pardon the Expression (1966), The Inside Man (1969), Wicked Women (1970), Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1976), No Man’s Land (1978), A Handful of Dust (1988) and Where Angels Fear to Tread (1991).
