A British actress and popular star of stage and screen, who demonstrated, in particular but not exclusively, a talent for offbeat comedy. On film, she featured in the likes of What Crazy World (1963), Georgy Girl (1966), Far from the Madding Crowd (1967), Percy (1971), Sir Henry at Rawlinson End (1980), Another Time, Another Place (1983) and Saving Grace (2000). On television, she had regular roles on Do Not Adjust Your Set (1967-1969), The Stanley Baxter Show (1967-1971), Girls About Town (1970-1971), Hold the Front Page (1974), End of Part One (1979-1980) and Merry-Go-Round (1998).
