Deborah Saban

Assistant Director

A British assistant director, who started out as an assistant floor manager on the likes of Last of the Summer Wine (1987) and House of Cards (1990) before becoming a first AD in the mid-1990s. While she did continue to do some television, including Our Friends in the North (1996), The Hollow Crown (2011) and Lonely Boy (2020), most of her subsequent work was in film. Her first AD credits included Mrs Brown (1997), Shakespeare in Love (1998), Calendar Girls (2003), Amazing Grace (2006), The Young Victoria (2009), The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011), Philomena (2013), The Theory of Everything (2014), Emma (2020) and Operation Mincemeat (2021). Saban also worked on the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics.
