Clare Peploe

A British-Italian filmmaker, who was born in Tanzania but raised in the UK and Italy. She started out penning scripts for Michelangelo Antonioni (Zabriskie Point, 1970) and Bernardo Bertolucci (Luna, 1979), before directing a short called Couples and Robbers (1981), which earned her a BAFTA nomination. She then wrote and directed High Season (1987), Rough Magic (1995) and The Triumph of Love (2001). She also co-wrote the script for Besieged (1998) with its director (and her husband), Bertolucci.
