An American actor who portrayed a range of African American icons on the big screen, Boseman starred as Jackie Robinson in 42 (2013), James Brown in Get On Up (2014) and Thurgood Marshall in Marshall (2017). He was best known for his dignified performance as King T’Challa in Black Panther (2018), and notably embraced the importance of the role to black audiences both onscreen and off.
