Burt Young

An American actor, who was Oscar-nominated for his performance as Paulie Pennino in the original Rocky (1976), a role he would reprise in the next five films in the series. Outside of the Rocky franchise, Burt Young would star in more than 150 films and TV series across a career spanning 50 years. A former US Marine, Young studied at Lee Strasberg’s Actors Studio, before landing his first credited screen role in Carnival of Blood (1970). Most often cast in supporting roles, his other notable film credits included Chinatown (1974), Convoy (1978), Amityville II: The Possession (1982), Once Upon a Time in America (1984), Last Exit to Brooklyn (1989), Mickey Blue Eyes (1999) and Transamerica (2005). On television, he guest spotted in episodes of MAS

  • H (1973), Serpico (1976), The Rockford Files (1976), Miami Vice (1984), Law & Order (1997), The Sopranos (2001) and Russian Doll (2019). Young was also a talented painter.
