Bruce Montague

A British actor, who is perhaps better known for his expansive theatre and musicals work although he did also earn 48 screen credits. Bruce Montague’s most recognisable television work was in the romantic sitcom Butterflies (1978-1983), which ran for four seasons and attracted around 15 million viewers at its peak. Other notable British television credits included Crane (1963), For Maddie With Love (1980), Whoops Apocalypse (1982), Fair Ground (1983), Sharon and Elsie (1984-1985), Poirot (1990), Hollyoaks (2015) and Doctors (2001-2019), the latter pairing him with Butterflies co-star Wendy Craig again in the last of his three appearances in the soap. He also spent time in New Zealand and Australia in the late 1960s, working mostly in theatre but also starring onscreen in thriller series The Alpha Plan (1969) and crime drama The Link Men (1970).
