Bill Kenwright CBE

A British producer and actor, who was better known for his theatre work than his film productions. Bill Kenwright started out as an actor, with his biggest role as Gordon Clegg in Coronation Street, a regular on the soap in 1968-1969 who made occasional guest appearances right up until 2012. He left his acting career behind to pursue his dream of producing for the stage, leading major West End and Broadway productions over the following decades, including Billy Liar, West Side Story and Blood Brothers. He also produced more than 20 films, including Stepping Out (1991), Chéri (2009), Broken (2012), the BIFA-nominated My Pure Land (2017), The Fanatic (2019), The Critic and The Kill Room (both 2023). He was appointed CBE in 2001 and served as chair of Everton FC from 2004 until 2023.
