Bill Butler

An American cinematographer, who was BAFTA and Oscar nominated for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975), with Haskell Wexler and William A Fraker. Bill Butler did win an Emmy for the feature length Raid on Entebbe (1976), earning two further nominations for TV adaptations of The Thorn Birds (1983) and A Streetcar Named Desire (1984). Additional credits as director of photography or cinematographer include Something Evil (1972), The Conversation (1974), Jaws (1975), Demon Seed, Capricorn One (both 1977), Damien: Omen II, Grease (both 1978), Rocky II, III and IV (1979-1985), Stripes (1981), Child’s Play (1988), Flipper (1996) and Frailty (2001).
