Bernard Cribbins OBE

A British actor, who was presented with a BAFTA Special Award at the 2009 Children’s Awards. He had a long association with children’s media, providing the voice of The Wombles (1973-1975), narrating Jackanory (1966-1995) 112 times and playing the title role in Old Jack’s Boat (2013-2015), for which he won a BAFTA in 2015, having already been nominated the year before. He earned a further nomination for Supporting Actor in The Railway Children (1970) at the Film Awards. Other notable roles included Frenzy (1972), three Carry On... films (Jack, Spying, both 1964, and Columbus, 1992), High & Dry (1985-1987), Black Ball (2003), Doctor Who (2007-2010) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2016).
