A British actor best known for his role in Chariots of Fire (1981), Cross played the British Jewish athlete Harold Abrahams who won 100m gold at the 1924 Paris Olympics whilst also battling antisemitism. His other notable credits included Honey Sweet Love (1994), First Knight (1995) and Star Trek (2009).
