A South African actress, who found fame on British television in On the Buses (1969-1973), a hugely popular sitcom that ran for more than 70 episodes and spawned three spin-off films. She would appear regularly on the small screen for the next 50 years, on the likes of The Rag Trade (1977-1978), Troubles and Strife (1985-1986), Roland Rat: The Series (1986) and EastEnders (1996-2017), the latter as the recurring character Aunt Sal, a relative of the Mitchells.
