A British actress (born in Karachi), who developed her acting career first on the British stage and then on television. Angela Thorne’s small screen debut was in an episode of The Avengers (‘Mission to Montreal’, 1962), but her breakthrough came in a starring role on Take a Sapphire (1966). She would go on to notch up almost 70 screen credits over the next 40 years, including starring roles on comedies To the Manor Born (1979-1981, 2007 special), Three Up, Two Down (1985-1989) and Farrington of the FO (1986-1987). Other credits included World in Ferment (1969), The Woodlanders (1970), Elizabeth R (1971), Emmerdale Farm (1978) and Noah’s Ark (1997-1998). She also appeared in the feature film Oh! What a Lovely War (1969) and voiced the Queen of England for the animated Roald Dahl’s The BFG (1989).
