A British cinematographer, who worked on five James Bond films, initially as a camera operator and then as cinematographer on License to Kill (1987) and The Living Daylights (1989). Alec Mills worked his way up from clapper loader, landing his first job as cinematographer on The Island of Adventure (1981). Notable credits across his career included The Saint (1966-1968), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1969), Gulliver’s Travels (1973), Death on the Nile (1978), Star Wars – Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1982), Space Riders (1984), Shaka Zulu (1986), Press Gang (1990-1993) and Soldier Soldier (1993-1996). He directed two films: Blood Moon and Dead Sleep (both 1990).
