Alan Frank

A South African-born film critic and author, who moved to the UK in the 1950s and forged a career reviewing movies for the likes of the Morning Star and Daily Star newspapers. Alan Frank was particularly known for his writing on the horror, science fiction and fantasy genres, including authoring the popular The Horror Film Handbook (1982), The Science Fiction and Fantasy Film Handbook (1982) and The Movie Treasury, Monsters and Vampires (1976), among his many published books. Frank and his wife, literary agent Gilly Schuster, who died in 2017, were both BAFTA members.
