Games writers Jon Ingold and Corey Brotherson shared career insights at BAFTA’s masterclass on Authenticity in Games Narratives on the 22nd of February 2023, hosted by Shay Thompson.
BAFTA masterclasses invite creatives from across film, games and television to share their knowledge, experience and expertise to an audience of professionals and general public.
In this masterclass, the audience learned how the writers explored telling stories which break the mould in terms of representation with their settings and/or characters – and how they ensured authenticity while doing so.
Together, they discussed what other works inspired them, the research they undertook, and who they collaborated with.
During the masterclass, Jon Ingold and Corey Brotherson broke down scenes from Heaven’s Vault and Windrush Tales respectively – revealing why they crafted them the way they did and what the scenes said about the rest of their games.
