BAFTA Connect Panel: Adapting a World from Games to TV

16 March 2023

An online event was held exclusive for BAFTA Connect members which delved into the craft and process behind the visual design of the television adaptation of The Last of Us on the 16th of March 2023.

Attendees watched presentations by Cynthia Summers (costumer designer), John Paino (production designer) and Barry Gower (prosthetics designer) as they walked through how the award-winning game was adapted and the challenges they faced as they retained the spirit of the game whilst translating it from animation to live action.

Insights were shared on how the television team contributed to, and built upon, the fictional world in their own way beyond the original game.

These presentations were followed by a panel discussion hosted by Keza Macdonald, the Guardian’s Video Games Editor and audiences had the opportunity to ask their own questions to the panel.
